New KODIAK Interior on Display at NBAA
Modifications Just One of Many New Product Enhancements
October 29, 2012, Orlando, FL….Quest Aircraft Company is pleased to showcase its new Timberline interior at this year’s National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Convention. The fully conforming interior is installed in the KODIAK on display in the static area located outside the Convention Center. Earlier this year, Quest announced that it was working on enhancements to its Tundra and Timberline interiors for the KODIAK which will be available on 2013 models.
“We are pleased that we have completed the modifications to the interior and have it on display here at NBAA,” said Steve Zinda, Director, Sales and Marketing. “Some of the changes include replacing the Kydex panels with composite panels, which will contribute to a weight reduction and should improve the useful load. We have also refined the headliner and enhanced the soundproofing. In addition, we have added new amenities for the Timberline, including storage pockets to the sidewall beside each chair and cupholders, both in the cabin and the cockpit. The cockpit chairs have been restyled in both the Timberline and Tundra to include an improved headrest and center pedestal closeouts have been added.” Customers will be able to select from two different color variants in the Tundra and Timberline. Both new interiors can be installed in existing KODIAKs with minor modifications.
The KODIAK on display also features the updated Garmin G1000 systems and software. Quest’s Garmin enhancements include a remote TAWs Inhibit switch, the GTS 800 Traffic Awareness System and Air Conditioning Inhibit functionality, which automatically inhibits using the air conditioning system during certain engine and generator power conditions. This KODIAK is also equipped with a Flight Into Known Icing TKS system as well as an External Cargo Compartment.
“We continue to enhance the KODIAK both in terms of product upgrades and operational improvements to meet our customers’ needs and allow them to outfit the airplane to suit their mission profile,” Zinda continued. “For example, we have made considerable progress on the Summit executive interior, which will be available in mid-2013. Another example is the GWX 68 radar, which can now be installed as an option in new production KODIAKs or at any Quest authorized service center.” The 4-color storm cell tracking system is a powerful weather avoidance tool that interfaces with the G1000 multifunction display (MFD).
The KODIAK’s rugged aluminum construction combines superior STOL performance and high useful load. It offers proven turbine reliability with the Pratt & Whitney PT6 turbine engine, has the ability to land and take off from unimproved surfaces and is capable of working off floats without structural upgrades. The KODIAK can take off in under 1,000 feet at full gross takeoff weight of 7,255 lbs. and climb at over 1,300 feet per minute. A 3-panel Garmin G1000 integrated avionics suite including Synthetic Vision Technology is standard equipment on the KODIAK.
